Kubb is a great way to get more guests to join in on the fun. This game can be played one on one or up to 6 persons on each team (12 total). Kubb can last from five minutes to well over an hour depending on the players skills and size of the "pitch".
It is claimed that Kubb dates back to the Viking Age. If you arent familiar with Kubb, it can be described as a combination of bowling, horseshoes and chess.
Kubb can be played on a variety of surfaces such as grass, sand or concrete. It does however require a large, open space for safe game play. Play takes place on a small rectangular playing field, known as a "pitch". The field is typically a 5m X 8m rectangle, however, the dimensions can be altered for younger players or to accommodate faster games.
"Kubbs" are placed at both ends of the pitch, and the "king", a larger wooden block, is placed in the middle of the pitch. The rules can vary, however, the ultimate objective of the game is to knock over the "kubbs" on the opposing side of the pitch, and then to knock over the "king", before the opponent does.
